May Contest Winner: Stephan’s Chevy Impala Passlock Fix
Well folks, it’s that time again to make somebody’s pockets a little fatter! This month’s winner is Stephan Saranczuk from Quebec. He took a chance on purchasing the NEWROCKIES PRO Module and of course it paid off big time. Not only is his Impala reliable again, but he’s getting a refund as well for sharing his story and pictures with us. Thank you Stephan β here is his story.
A Passlock Problem That Came Back With a Vengeance

βMy Chevy Impala has served me well throughout the years, and still works well despite a few needed repairs. There is one thing I have known about it since the first summer I got it though: the Passlock. It happened that first summer on very hot and humid days, but wasn’t that bad since I only drove it once or twice a week. However, in the past few years I have needed it to commute to work, but the problem only happened once or twice a year since that first summer. Last summer, however, the problem came back with a vengeance. It started once again on the hot and humid days, making me late for an early shift at work. After that I decided I’d leave much earlier so that I would leave room for the ten-minute reset. I also figured that once the temperature cooled down, the problem would disappear again.β

βFall came and the problem seemed to happen with the same frequency, sometimes making me wait ten minutes after filling up gas. Eventually I would discover a work-around involving my spare key, and not turning the key to ignition right away. This would work well for the next few months. However, near the end of this winter, I found it coming again, meaning my trick was now failing. Best case scenario was that I would have the solid security light while driving, or the flashing light with the car not starting.β
Trying NEWROCKIES After GM’s Service Fell Short
βWhile I am generally skeptical, it was either try the NEWROCKIES PRO Module or deal with GM and their apparently dismal service for the Passlock. I did not want to deal with this anymore, and it seemed cheaper to just try NEWROCKIES. I contacted one of the garages listed on the site and they were willing to install it. So I ordered the product, waited a little bit longer since it coincided with the Easter holiday, then went to get it installed. A few weeks later, after much use, I have been using my real key straight to ignition with no problems.β

βHowever, I wanted to make sure it worked, and have waited a month to guarantee it. Officially the dreaded Passlock has not happened, and I no longer have to wonder whether or not my car will start in the morning. Thanks NEWROCKIES!β
