September Contest Winner: Vanessa’s 2006 Saturn Vue Self-Install Fix
Our monthly contest winner for September is Vanessa Rosa from Rhode Island. Like most people who visit our website, she had been experiencing an intermittent “No Start” issue on her 2006 Saturn Vue for a very long time. After weighing her options carefully, she decided to go with the NEWROCKIES PRO Module. Here is her story.
A Blinking Lock Light — and a Recall That Wasn’t the Answer
“I’m a 26-year-old female who has a tendency to ‘freak out’ at the slightest problem with my 2006 Saturn Vue. Flat tire? Freak out! Need to check my oil? Ummm… So it’s understandable that when the security function in my car kept getting progressively worse, my first thought was to trade it in and have someone else deal with the problem. Every time I tried to start my car, that blinking ‘lock’ light from hell would pop up on my dashboard, and I’d have to wait ten minutes before I could try starting it again. Well, just this past week my car stopped working for good. I tried different keys, and would wait a good 30 minutes attempting to reset the security system, and nothing worked.”
“I originally thought it had something to do with the current GM recall, but after days of researching I discovered that the security light preventing me from starting my car was unrelated to the recall! So even if my car was eligible for a new ignition switch, it most likely would not have fixed my problem. That’s when I discovered the NEWROCKIES PRO Module!”
A Self-Install With Zero Prior Car Knowledge
“Now let’s just say the economy hasn’t been in my favor lately. So because I am already pinching pennies, I decided to order the module and do a self-install so I could save money — you heard that right. A girl with zero prior car knowledge installed the PRO Module on her own! My boyfriend came to visit as I was finishing up, and with an astonished look on his face he said, ‘This is something a mechanic does… and you did this by yourself? No fricken way.’”

“Thank you NEWROCKIES for this awesome product!!! I still can’t believe my car is running normally — I’ve been so accustomed to anticipating it not starting for so long. You rock!”
Fixed for Good
Great job, Vanessa! Thank you for sharing your story — and for proving this is a fix anyone can tackle, mechanic or not.
Vanessa’s 2006 Saturn Vue shares its BCM hardware with other 2002–2007 Saturn Vues — if you’re working on one, the full wiring steps are in the 2002–2007 Saturn Vue installation guide.
