March Contest Winner: Scott’s 2000 Buick Century No-Start Fix
Our March contest winner is Scott Lawrence and his 2000 Buick Century β and along with the win comes his money back. Scott owns the Century and couldn’t be happier after installing the PRO Module. We bet he’s even happier picking up his refund on top of it. Thanks Scott for the feedback and for sharing your story and pictures.
No More Waiting 15 Minutes to Start

βAfter a lot of messing around with so-called fixes and resistors, not to mention shop bills, I purchased a NEWROCKIES module. It was pretty easy to install. Now my 2000 Buick Century doesn’t miss a beat! No more waiting 15 minutes for my car to start, no more hassles, no more excuses for being late β it starts every time! Thanks NEWROCKIES!β

Fixed for Good

Thank you Scott for taking the time to share your story. We at NEWROCKIES wish you many more trouble-free miles in the Century.
What Was Actually Happening Under the Hood
Scott’s 2000 Century uses GM’s Passlock system, which reads a resistor pellet in the ignition key through a sensor built into the lock cylinder β there’s no separate transponder chip involved. When that resistor value doesn’t match what the Body Control Module expects, even by a hair, the BCM assumes a theft attempt and cuts the fuel pump relay. Corrosion on the lock cylinder’s sensor contacts, a worn pellet, or a marginal BCM connection can all trigger a false reading, and the fix most independent shops reach for β wiring in an external resistor to fake the value β only works until the real resistance drifts again. That’s exactly the βso-called fixes and resistorsβ Scott mentioned trying first. The NEWROCKIES PRO Module bypasses the Passlock check at the BCM connector itself, so the fuel pump relay is no longer at the mercy of that resistor reading, and the 10-to-15-minute wait for the system to βresetβ disappears along with it.
Scott’s 2000 Buick Century shares its BCM hardware with the 2000β2005 Buick Regal β if you’re working on one of these, the full wiring steps are in the 2000β2005 Buick Century, Regal installation guide.
