The core of GM Security Systems is the engine immobilizer. It goes by many different names, like Passkey, VATS or Passlock etc. depending on the car manufacturer that is installing them and on a number of small variants.
These systems only have 3 components, but those components together can cost you more than $1,000 at the dealer to replace. They are:
Due to this simplicity, there are only 3 things that can fail – and each of them tends to last no more than 7 years, often much less. If only ONE part of that system goes down, the car will either not start or it will start but die in a matter of seconds.
Every GM security system works on this one simple principle: The Key/Lock component sends an input signal to the TDM/BCM through the wiring. When the TDM gets the right input signal, it produces an output signal that allows the engine to start. That’s all it does.
Because the Resistor is NOT a Passlock Bypass! It is a key bypass. Its focus is on the input signal – It only tricks the TDM into thinking the right key is in the lock cylinder. It is partial.
While GM kept focusing on the input signal as the years went by, they totally forgot about the output signal. So – no matter the make and model of your GM car or the type of security system, the output signal remained the same.
We take advantage of this by reproducing that signal with the PRO Module – a FULL Passlock Bypass – that enables your injectors without VATS, Passkey, or Passlock.
As we explained, the other so-called solutions still depend on the TDM to produce the proper output signal in response to their input signal – and that’s a bad idea, because the TDM is the weakest link AND the most expensive part of the system.

Absolutely yes. There are 2 main types of factory immobilizers installed on GM cars: VATS/Passkey and Passlock. The first one has the chip in the metal part of the key, while the Passlock has the same system but inside the lock cylinder and there is no chip in the key itself. Both systems work in a very similar manner and, if your car is listed on our page, the PRO Module will definitely work on it and bypass the system.
