The core of GM Security Systems is the engine immobilizer. It goes by many different names, like Passkey, VATS or Passlock etc. depending on the car manufacturer that is installing them and on a number of small variants.
These systems only have 3 components, but those components together can cost you more than $1,000 at the dealer to replace. They are:
Due to this simplicity, there are only 3 things that can fail – and each of them tends to last no more than 7 years, often much less. If only ONE part of that system goes down, the car will either not start or it will start but die in a matter of seconds.
Every GM security system works on this one simple principle: The Key/Lock component sends an input signal to the TDM/BCM through the wiring. When the TDM gets the right input signal, it produces an output signal that allows the engine to start. That’s all it does.
Because the Resistor is NOT a Passlock Bypass! It is a key bypass. Its focus is on the input signal – It only tricks the TDM into thinking the right key is in the lock cylinder. It is partial.
While GM kept focusing on the input signal as the years went by, they totally forgot about the output signal. So – no matter the make and model of your GM car or the type of security system, the output signal remained the same.
We take advantage of this by reproducing that signal with the PRO Module – a FULL Passlock Bypass – that enables your injectors without VATS, Passkey, or Passlock.
As we explained, the other so-called solutions still depend on the TDM to produce the proper output signal in response to their input signal – and that’s a bad idea, because the TDM is the weakest link AND the most expensive part of the system.
The PRO Module is a FULL Passlock Bypass Module instead that goes right to the heart of the problem and solves it by reproducing the proper output signal that the PCM (onboard computer) uses to enable the fuel injectors. This means you can disable and often remove the ENTIRE immobilizer system from your car, to plague you no more!
The NEWROCKIES PRO Module does not just save cars.
It saves vacations, hobbies, car races, jobs and even families.
Because so much today is tied to a dependable car.

We get lots of questions. The most used questions will be placed over here so you might find the answers you are looking for.
On many GM/Isuzu vehicles, a steady or flashing security light usually means the factory immobilizer (Passkey/Passlock/VATS) is seeing a problem with the key, lock cylinder, wiring, or theft‑deterrent module and may start disabling the engine.
That’s often an early warning. The system is seeing intermittent faults but hasn’t fully locked you out yet. Most customers who ignore this phase eventually end up with random no‑starts or a complete no‑start.
That pattern is classic for an immobilizer fault: the engine starts, then the security system cuts fuel because it doesn’t see the “OK to run” signal from the Passkey/Passlock module.
Because the problem in your car is not the starter motor, but most probaIf the starter turns but the engine will not fire, and the security light is on or has a history of flashing, the immobilizer is a prime suspect. The PRO Module is designed specifically for this scenario.bly the Passlock system that failed. The NEWROCKIES PRO Module can bypass the Passlock permanently.
Yes. We see many vehicles where the internal module has failed without consistently turning the light on. Intermittent wiring issues or partial failures can still block the “OK to start” signal.
It’s GM’s factory engine immobilizer. Depending on the year/model it may be called Passkey, VATS, Passlock, etc., but they all work by checking a signal from the key/lock and then sending an “OK” signal to the engine computer to allow fuel.
A resistor “bypass” is a partial fix that only tricks the system into thinking the right key is present. It still relies on the original theft‑deterrent module to send the final “OK” signal, so when that module fails, the resistor trick stops working.
Because they leave the weakest, most failure‑prone part—the theft‑deterrent module (sometimes inside the BCM/IPC)—still in control. When that module finally fails, the car goes back to no‑start, even if a resistor or “bypass” was installed.
Instead of faking the input, the PRO Module recreates the output signal that tells the engine computer “all clear, allow fuel.” It takes the factory immobilizer out of the loop, providing a full bypass rather than a partial key trick.
The PRO Module works on hundreds of GM and Isuzu cars, trucks and SUVs. Check the compatibility chart on the footer of this page; if your year/make/model is listed, then the PRO Module is designed to work on it.
Yes. Many supported vehicles use Passlock‑style sensors without a visible chip in the key. As long as your vehicle is on our compatibility list, the PRO Module is designed for it, with or without a visible chip.
Yes. The PRO Module is designed to work with VATS, Passkey (including 2 and 3), Passlock and Passlock 2, and all related GM immobilizer architectures on all the supported vehicles.
Yes. The PRO Module is specifically intended for cars that are already no‑start because of immobilizer failure. You don’t need the car to start first to install it.
You do not need to replace the key, lock cylinder, or theft‑deterrent module just to use the PRO Module. The PRO Module lets you avoid all of those replacements.
If the problem is the factory immobilizer, then no—you do not need a new theft‑deterrent module (TDM) or BCM. The PRO Module is designed as a full bypass of the immobilizer function and, when installed correctly on a supported vehicle, it completely takes over the job of telling the engine it’s allowed to run. In cases where the TDM is built into the BCM, EVO or IPC, you still don’t replace that module unless it has additional faults that affect other systems beyond the immobilizer circuit.
You can, but most customers come to us after spending significant money on keys, cylinders and modules that fail again. Our approach is to bypass the failure‑prone system entirely so it can’t strand you again.
Most installs take about an hour for someone comfortable working around basic automotive wiring. Typical tools are wire strippers/crimpers, a screwdriver, and a test light or meter. We provide vehicle‑specific instructions and wiring color codes for supported models.
Many DIY owners install it successfully, even on their first wiring project. However, if you’re not comfortable working with wiring, we recommend having a local shop do the install. Over 1,200 shops in the US are familiar with the PRO Module.
The PRO Module is built with high‑spec components rated for extreme temperatures and designed to last the life of the vehicle. We back it with a 30‑day money‑back guarantee and lifetime replacement warranty.
