About Luke

Real name is Luca and he loves his name, but he says that is often taken as a girl’s name or worse as a dog’s name, so Luke came out. He is an Electrical Engineer that defines himself as an IT Project Manager that doesn’t like to be such. Used to love Software programming since he was 14 years old, but has this strange attitude of always wanting to change things radically in his life, so he moved into several different fields with an enormous success in the deployment of huge submarine networks.

He lives in the cold Canada with his family. He loves Buick’s. And is a proud owner of a 1970 Buick Electra Convertible with dual 4-barrels carburetors – the Thunder as he likes to call her.

It’s because of his background, wilderness and continuous interest in changing things that he came out one day with this electronic circuit that fixed his own 95 Buick LeSabre once and for all and that is fixing now thousands of cars in the US alone without counting the ever increasing international customers.

Luca founded NEWROCKIES Inc in 2008 as a federal Corporation with the exclusive focus on designing, developing and supporting the PRO Module.

If your issue is in the infamous VATS/PassKey/Passlock system, then you have come to the right place and his PRO module will indeed fix it. Where to buy it? Click Here: http://newrockies.com/pro

I have a 2002 Chevy 1500hd. The daytime running lights stopped working the in-terrier lights stopped also the battery would die over night the alarm keypad stopped working and the security light never cut off. It went this way for about 5 months. One morning I started the truck and everything worked all the lights the alarm and everything else. When i got home and parked it i went back out and it would start and die. It has been this way for 2 months.

Hey CJ, you may be experiencing a security failure. Especially if the security light is flashing or solid. The question is this: is the security failing or is there something else failing that is causing all of your headaches plus the security issue? On your specific case, our Pro Module MAY get your truck running again by bypassing the security feature, but it definitely will not fix all those other issues.

CJ April 23, 2013 at 9:54 am

I have ordered the pro module and i am waiting for it to come in. Everything else stopped working when the security light started staying on. I was told that they were all tied in together. I don’t need the rest I just want the truck to run. With the security light never cutting off does that sound like he vats system going bad.

Reply

Justin April 24, 2013 at 9:16 am

Truly CJ, it’s hard to say. 2002 is the Passlock not the VATS system anymore, which is wired in pretty tight. With the security light being on, i’d say there is a good chance we can get it running again.

Bill,
My son-in-law and I have been working with an ongoing issue on his 1998 GMC Pickup. It is a security system issue of failing to start 30 percent of the time until we wait several hours and then we are at it again. Every time it fails to start the Security lamp is on. We’ve been down all of the traditional roads and have decided that we want(need) your system on this truck. The question is how long can we expect the install to take? We are both very familiar with electronics and vehicle repair and I’m sure we can do it.
Thanks

Hello Bill, it sounds like you’ve come to the right place. As far as installation goes, you need only basic tools and some patience. We ship our modules with detailed instructions including the location and wiring of our Pro Module to your specific vehicle. Install times vary by installer, but should take you around a hour.

Hi Luke
I have 2004 Chev Impala. It has a remote starter installed, the only way I can start the car is with the remote starter. If I try with the key it’s a 50 50 chance that it will start. Also lately the security light comes on after about 20 minutes of driving, it’s done this everyday for the past 3 weeks. Will your NEWROCKIES PRO Module fix these issues.

Yes Neil, our Pro Module will bypass the security system and make your Impala work like normal again.

Yes, this module will bypass the security allowing you to start your vehicle again. And returning is NEVER an issue. We will refund for any reason as long as it’s mailed back to us within 30 days from purchase and you have contacted us so we know that it is being returned.

Will you provide me with the disabling procedures and will you be able to send me pictures of step by step how to do it?

Hello Luke! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you with a Testimony. Finally found someone to help me install the Pro Module last weekend. The light came on but it would not start. We followed the troubleshooting instructions and reversed the on/off switches and checked the others to make sure they were set correctly. Hurray! The car started right up and continues to start every time since!!!

I am so grateful and thankful for the wisdom you have to have invented this wonderful money-saving device!!

God Bless you Luke,

I have a 1998 Chevy Astro that may have this problem. While driving, the speedometer would peg to max (100mph) and then as soon as I took my foot off the accelerator, the car died and would not start. After 10 minutes it did start, but then repeated the above scenario until eventually it would NOT start. After being towed in, the dealer replaced the crank sensor and ignition switch and casing, which did NOT fix the problem. They are now saying that it is the “theft deterrent module” and it is no longer available. Is the TDM really the problem and will your bypass module fix this problem? Thanks!!

Reply

Luke July 2, 2012 at 4:49 pm

Jeff, this doesn’t seem like an issue related to security. Our PRO Module unfortunately would not help. There is no way the theft deterrent system could shut off the engine while driving. It is by design. When the problem is in the TDM or in any other part of the theft deterrent system, the car would refuse to start or start by die within 5 seconds. My very best guess in your case in a bad ECM (main computer) which also interprets the input from the TDM.

Reply

Luke May 13, 2012 at 7:07 pm

Brian, our PRO module works perfectly on the GrandAM 99 to 2005. So yes, your year is definitely covered. It will bypass the factory immobilizer and only that, no other function of the car will be affected in any way.

Car type: 98 SC2 Saturn, 2 door coupe,
Issue: I’m not sure it’s the passkey either, but in the last few weeks, I’m afraid to drive for fear that the car is just going to do the same thing it’s done lately–shuts off won’t restart for no apparent reason. I took it into my mechanic and he couldn’t find anything wrong, in fact had he not tried to start it the day I brought it in, he wondered why I brought it in the first place—lights all come on, not a fuse issue, or starter or anything else, but the car won’t start. Tonight we just came back from driving and stopped the car, then tried starting it again (hadn’t even locked it) but it wouldn’t start again, waited an hour, nothing….I just can’t have an unreliable car, especially being unemployed and trying to get to interviews. I don’t want to be stranded anywhere, especially in a car park somewhere downtown.

Reply

Luke March 11, 2012 at 8:12 pm

Jeanne, if it shut off while driving then it cannot be a security issue. The security system works only in the first 5 seconds after starting the car. Otherwise, you can try our PRO module and if the problem will come out to be something else you can just return it within 30 days for a full refund. Our guarantee is unconditional.

Luke,
2007 Cadillac CTS….Car wont start some mornings, but it will others. This has been a problem off and on, but seems to be happening more often….I had a DIC (dashboard instrument computer??) note that flashed on indicating, service security system, but when I took it to the dealer they couldnt pinpoint the problem. Dealer said it could be a number of things, but they dont want to change out parts as it could be costly (for me). I had this problem before 50,000 mile warranty lapsed, so they might be on the hook (65,000 miles)

The carlock light goes on while driving at times…..Problem comes and goes, just comes when it is most inconvienent.

Will your system repair my 2007 Cadillac CTS??

Gary

Reply

Luke January 17, 2012 at 6:43 am

Gary, our modules are not compatible with your 2007 CTS, but the issue seems to be clearly security. I cannot guarantee our new modules that will be out later this year will be working on your car, they changed the system a lot on that vehicle and we have to do quite extensive testing before we can say anything. In your case I would suggest that you try pushing the dealer for now insisting that this started before the warranty expired and it’s clearly a security issue, you can try with a couple different dealers, some of them might be more flexible.

Hi. I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4.8L (95,000 miles) that has been a good vehicle, until now. While on an ordinary commute, the engine just “cut off”, all lights on the dash lit up, and I was stranded beside the road. The repair shop said that the onboard computer had to be replaced ($600 parts and labor–with a Car Quest part). Then, after the onboard computer was replaced but before I got the truck back, the shop called me to say that it wont start sometimes (50% of the time), but when it runs, it runs well. The security light comes on, it starts briefly and shuts off. He said that the new computer and the old cylinder are no longer 100% compatible. He wants to change out the cylinder for $300. As far as I know the 2000 sierra 1500 does not have an embedded chip in the key–its an “old school” key. Please comment, help and advise.

Thanks,

Bill Whaley
Wilmington, NC USA

Reply

Luke December 27, 2011 at 10:17 am

Bill, if it cuts off while driving it cannot be a security issue and usually is the main computer (ECM), so the shop has changed the right module. Now instead the last problem you describe (random no-start and when it starts it runs perfect) is indeed security and our PRO module can bypass the system and fix the problem for half the price of changing the cylinder. Your key is a normal one because the chip in your truck is inside the cylinder and not in the key.

Bill Whaley February 25, 2012 at 5:58 am

Thanks.

When you said the PRO module will work, does that include the DIY for $37? If so, what will the parts cost (approximately) at Radio Shack? Last, if it doesn’t work on my truck, will you refund my money?

Thanks,

Bill

Reply

Luke February 28, 2012 at 11:53 am

Bill, on your vehicle only the PRO module will work as it doesn’t have the “Fuel Enable” signal at the ECM that is required for the DIY to work.

I have a 96 Cad Deville. Last night it wouldn’t start – security message said remove key. Manual says I should see a 3 minute timer countdown and then be able to try again. I don’t get the timer countdown and aftert waiting a couple of hours still won’t start. Sounds like VATS system problem and since the timer doesn’t countdown I suspect that installing a resistor to bypass the key sensor won’t work. Will your bypass module solve my problem?

Reply

Luke December 12, 2011 at 4:14 pm

Brad, that is a security issue and I also believe the resistor would not work as it works in a very small subset of cases. Unfortunately we don’t have yet a module that would work for a 96 Deville, that is an year they changed the system in that car even if they keep calling it the same way.

Right now my car wont even try to start and the security light just blinks. I am hoping this will work for my car too because I had this problem before and paid over $400 to get it fixed 2 years ago and now it is happening again. Reply

Luke November 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Veronica, the problem you mention is related to another part of the security system that is called “Content Security” in GM vocabulary and in your model it’s separated from the factory immobilizer that would prevent the engine from starting or would make it die in 2 seconds. Our PRO module bypasses the factory immobilizer, not the content security, so if you have no start problems, those will be fixed by our module.

I’ve had that same problem before, and the security light would blink then I’d do the 10 minutes waiting thing, and it would work. But this time, the security light does not blink though the light it’s on. The car cranks pretty well, but won’t fire up. I’m just not sure whether it still has to do with the security passlock, since the 10 minutes waiting thing is not working this time. Do you think it’d be wise to try your product anyhow? if so, how quick can I get one?

Reply

Luke November 5, 2011 at 1:17 pm

Jonas, symptoms are of a faulty passlock system, yes I would suggest to try out one of our PRO modules and if the problem is the passlock, then it will fix it, if not, you can return it for full refund within 30 days. 2001 Oldsmobile Alero.

I replaced the ignition lock/cylinder to see whether it was a security problem. The system reset itself and the light went away, but the car still did not start. I don’t even hear the fuel pump when I turn the car on. I’m willing to try your product, I’m just not a 100% sure that it has to do with the security system. I started the car by injecting fluid into the engine and the car starts, it’s just not getting any gas from the fuel pump. Have you dealt with that situation before?

Reply

Luke November 17, 2011 at 12:24 pm

Jonas, the security system interrupts the fuel to the engine by disabling the injectors, NOT the fuel pump. If the fuel pump is not priming, then the issue is not security on those systems.

Reply

Luke October 20, 2011 at 10:29 am

Shaun, security in those cars stops the injectors, but it can ONLY happen within less than 5 seconds from starting it. If it happens while driving it cannot be security and I would think of an ECM problem or a faulty crank sensor.

Switched transmissions in a 1999 Buick Regal. A few weeks later car would frequently not shift out of park. Now it will only crank if battery is disconnected for a period of time and then will start only one time. Could this be a security issue?
